If you attended the NEFDHA seminar on 4/20/07, we offered Domestic Violence and you are current on the requirement of every 3rd biennium. NEFDHA offered Medical Errors on the 4/24/09 seminar which is a 2 hour CEU EACH biennium. NEFDHA will offer Domestic Violence on the upcoming 5/7/10 and Medical Errors in 2011 seminars. If you have taken an AIDS/HIV course since 1st licensed, you are NOT required to take it again. CPR is required each biennium above and beyond the 24 hours needed. ALERT!!

Dental Hygienists and Dental Assistants are not permitted by law perform in-office whitening procedures! However, they are allowed to take impressions for and deliver at-home bleaching trays. The Rules read:

64B5-16.006 Remediable Tasks Delegable to a Dental Hygienist.
(2) The following remediable tasks may be performed by a dental hygienist who has received training in these procedures in pre-licensure education or who has received formal training and who performs the tasks under indirect supervision:
(g) Taking of impressions for and delivery of at-home bleaching trays.

Be aware that the laws and rules state what we are allowed to do and under what type of supervision. If it is not listed then it is not a procedure we can provide. As a licensed professional we are responsible for knowing our scope of practice. If you have any questions always call the Board of Dentistry office at: 850-245-4474 for clarification.
